Newsletter Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2 June 2026
The Gums & Bones newsletter is sent by Gums & Bones using EmailOctopus. This policy explains what data we keep, who else sees it, and how to leave.
What we collect
Your email address — necessary, since email is how the newsletter reaches you.
A locale tag — so you receive the right edition (English, German, Japanese, etc.).
A source tag — recording whether you signed up from the website or from inside one of our apps. This may shape what we send you in future (e.g., app users might receive an occasional note about that specific app that website subscribers don’t).
That’s it. No name, no IP address, no behavioural profile, no purchase history, no anything else.
What we don’t track
We’ve turned off open tracking and click tracking in EmailOctopus. The emails don’t contain tracking pixels. Links go directly to where they say they go — no redirects through tracking domains.
We don’t know who reads each newsletter, or which links anyone clicks, or when. We see the total subscriber count, the bounce rate, and the unsubscribe rate. That’s the entire picture.
Who else sees your email address
EmailOctopus handles the newsletter platform. Your email address sits on Amazon Web Services servers in Ireland, within the European Economic Area. When we send a newsletter, EmailOctopus passes the email to one of two delivery services — SendGrid or SparkPost — to do the actual sending. Once each email is sent, those services no longer have access to your address. EmailOctopus doesn’t sell, share, or use your address for anything else. Full details: emailoctopus.com/legal/privacy.
If you reply to a newsletter, the reply lands in our Proton Mail inbox. Proton is end-to-end encrypted, based in Switzerland, and doesn’t scan email contents. Their privacy policy: proton.me/legal/privacy.
Nobody else.
Email to us
Any email you send to a gumsandbones.com address — hello@, privacy@, press@, or anything else — lands in our Proton Mail inbox. Proton is end-to-end encrypted, based in Switzerland, and doesn’t scan email contents. We don’t forward, share, or process replies anywhere else. Their privacy policy: proton.me/legal/privacy.
How to leave
Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no questions asked, no “are you sure?” page. Your email address is removed from our list immediately.
If you want your data deleted entirely (rather than just unsubscribed), email [email protected] and we’ll do it the same day.
Children’s privacy
The newsletter is intended for adults. We don’t knowingly accept subscriptions from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at gumsandbones.com/newsletter/privacy with a new effective date.
